Ant Control · Gilroy, CA
Ant control in Gilroy, aimed at the nest instead of the trail.
A line of ants on the counter is a foraging trail, not the colony. The nest is usually somewhere else entirely, so spraying what you can see leaves the colony to send more.

Local conditions
What you'll actually find in Gilroy
Argentine ants are behind most of the ant work we do in Gilroy. larger lots bordering open farmland give them steady moisture and short routes indoors, and properties near Uvas Creek tend to see heavier pressure through the dry months, when colonies move toward irrigated ground and stay there.
pavement ants turn up as well, usually where paving, planters, or plumbing lines leave a warm, damp gap to nest in.
Argentine ants
Large, connected colonies that forage in long trails and move indoors when outside conditions turn against them. Treating the trail alone tends to split the colony rather than reduce it.
pavement ants
Usually nesting in a gap that holds warmth and moisture, which is why they show up along slab edges, under pavers, and beside plumbing penetrations.
On south valley properties this matters more than it sounds. Ants follow moisture, so where your water goes largely decides where they go, which is how two houses on the same Gilroy street end up with completely different ant problems.
Our approach
How we treat ants
We use Integrated Pest Management, which means the first visit goes to finding where the colony actually lives before anything is applied. Once we know that, we treat the source with EPA-registered products, applied by a licensed technician following the product label.
Find the nest
Your technician follows the trails back and checks the conditions supporting them: irrigation, grade, wood contact, and entry points around the foundation.
Treat the source
We apply only what's needed, where it's needed. Most of the work happens outside, at the nest and along the routes in, rather than broadly indoors.
Keep pressure down
Most Gilroy homes do best on a quarterly plan, because colonies rebuild from outside as soon as conditions let them.
Around your family. Treatments are applied carefully around your children and pets, and your technician will tell you when everyone can return to treated areas.
The same person each time. You get the same dedicated technician every visit, someone who learns your property and its history rather than a different face each time. Our San Jose office on Qume Drive covers all of Gilroy.
Straight answers
What to expect, honestly
Ants take time. Some colonies need a series of visits before activity drops off, and it is normal to see more ants for a few days after a baited treatment. That is the colony carrying bait back to the nest, which is the mechanism working rather than failing.
Results also depend on what happens between visits. Fixing a dripping hose bib or moving a woodpile off the foundation will often do more than a second application.
Why do I see more ants right after treatment?
With bait, that is expected for a few days. Workers carry it back, so surface traffic rises before it falls. If activity has not dropped off after about two weeks, call us and we will come back out.
Can I just use a store-bought spray?
For a single trail, sometimes. The catch is that most retail sprays are repellents, so they scatter a colony into several smaller ones instead of reducing it. If ants keep returning to the same spot after you have cleaned and sealed it, the nest is established and surface spray will not reach it.
Do you have to treat inside my house?
Often very little. Most ant work happens outside, at the nest and along the entry points. Interior treatment is targeted only where we have confirmed activity.
How often does a Gilroy home need service?
Most homes here do best on a quarterly plan, because Argentine ants rebuild from outside as soon as conditions allow. One-time service makes sense for a contained problem in a home with no history of it.
What does ant control cost?
It depends on the property size and how established the colony is, which is why we quote after looking rather than over the phone. We'll inspect your property and propose a comprehensive treatment plan.
